Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing multiple engineering departments and managing product design and development for new or existing products.
This position is expected to finalize and execute our new electronic hardware and software development strategy. This position will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement into the electronics development process. 

Requirements

• Manage a small to medium groups of electrical, mechanical, quality, applications and software engineers working on multiple projects and direct the workflow and activities of the engineering groups.  This person will also interface closely with the sales and marketing departments to coordinate product design and development.

• Hold regular departmental meetings and promote an environment conducive to free exchange of information and flow of ideas. Monitor project progress and communicate status of issues and concerns to the project team and Upper Management.

• Assure that adequate specifications and documentation are developed and maintained for all new projects.  Forecast, obtain and maintain required resources to achieve project schedules.

• Initiate and lead efforts in the creation and development of world class electronics development processes, procedures, and guidelines.

• Function as a staff specialist/technical advisor for assigned area of responsibility and expertise. Maintain training and development plans for direct reports and overall department.

• Should have a strong understanding of video/audio electronic technology and maintain a good understanding of the market in order to define the direction for new features.

•Candidate must be knowledgeable with the inner workings of TV stations, Production Facilities and Portable Broadcast Production Trucks.

• Must be a manager that works well with his team and wants to get the best of them both for the company and the growth of the individual. He is demanding yet understands his team’s capability so he is sure that the solutions and time to market are well within the team’s capability and resources.

Technical Skills

  • Should have a good understanding of hardware and firmware.
  • Should have a deep understanding of embedded systems.
  • Experience managing electronic design.
  • Experience with mixed signal processing, high definition signals (HDSDI, DVI, HDMI).
  • Experience with video processing and audio processing.
  • Experience with Broadcast formats.
  • Knowledge of video scaling and de-interlacing.
  • Familiar with LCD monitor design, manufacturing and the associated electronics processing.
  • Knowledge/experience in technologies including Liquid Crystal Displays, Digital video signals and formats, encoding, transcoding and MPEG, control systems, protocol adapters and Under Monitor Display support.
